Last night our new MP Boris Johnson attended the Big SleepOut 2015 Launch at Bar Italia in Uxbridge to pledge his support for our commitment to beating homelessness in his constituency. Mr Johnson spoke to the crowd of Trinity supporters from local and national businesses, community groups, universities and churches. As part of our #ItCouldBeMe campaign Boris spoke of ‘the importance of love and commitment when helping those who are homeless’, which was becoming a ‘more and more urgent problem in London and beyond’. He commended Trinity on the work we do to support people back to independent living: housing 250 people a year and coaching people to find the resources within themselves to change their own lives, gain employment and rebuild relationships. At the event we also heard from Chris O’Conner who has slept at every sleep out for the last 7 years, Dave Cox from Safestore – our box sponsor and our CEO, Steve Hedley who spoke of the importance of helping homeless people realise their aspirations as part of their journey independent living and being all they can be as members of society. The Big SleepOut takes place this year at Hillingdon Athletics Stadium – you can sign up here. He was introduced by outgoing MP Sir John Randall, a long term Trinity supporter and we were entertained by the brilliant Paolo Morena – another long term Trinity supporter. Huge thank you to Leo at Leo The Photographer for all the images of the event. You were fantastic and we are really grateful. Many, Many thanks to Paolo Morena – we are always so grateful for all the work you do to support Trinity through your beautiful music.
